🪄 The World Wants You Checked Out… Don’t Fall For It
Hey Reader,
Let’s have a grown-up conversation with a little glitter on top.
The Mass Blackout movement is ricocheting around the internet again — “No shopping! No working! No participating!” for one full week. And listen… the intention isn’t the problem. The intention is fine. The messaging is the problem. The messaging is pure chaos.
Boycotts don’t work in a weekend. They don’t work in a week. They work when they’re long, strategic, and relentlessly organized. A week-long blackout won’t topple a corporation, but it will bruise the people already carrying the most weight: hourly workers, creators, service providers, and every small business owner hustling to make Q4 survival math add up.
Activism without strategy is just vibes in a trench coat and this one is tripping over its own hemline.
The organizers are already walking it back (“We didn’t mean small businesses!”) which tells you everything. If your call to action requires a follow-up call to clarify the first call, your messaging didn’t land. This is a marketing failure, not a movement.
And before you think that’s me standing on a soapbox: this is literally what I teach in the studio every week. Your values and your business are connected like bones and muscle. Not fused, not rigid — but undeniably linked. If your values are foggy, your messaging will be foggy. If your messaging is foggy, your results will be foggy.
The hard truth the blackout illustrates:
Some people can afford to “pause the world” for a week. Most can’t.
Some people can stop spending. Many can’t.
Privilege is loud here, even if the movement doesn’t hear it.
I saw the same conversation play out in my romance writer group this week. (Spoiler! I'm developing a rom com fiction podcast releasing in 2026. You heard it here first.😉)
The question was: “Where do we draw the line on consuming products from companies whose CEOs openly support harmful politics?”
My answer was basically:
You’re drowning in contradictions if you try to live a 100% “ethical” life inside a capitalist system. The CEO of Toyota is wearing MAGA gear now... am I supposed to sell my car in this economy? Tim Cook has donated to Trump... am I supposed to throw my MacBook out the window?
At some point, you have to find peace in yourself and decide where your energy actually moves the needle. Otherwise, you end up frozen — morally constipated, spiritually exhausted, creatively drained, and accomplishing nothing.
Which brings me to you, my dear creator.
You can’t lead a brand or build an audience from inside a freeze response.
Checking out is not the revolution. Checking in — with intention — is.
And this is where your old Sensible Woo training meets the evolved Sasquatch Media Grounds era. You still need systems. You still need workflows. You still need a grounded strategy for navigating the real world. “Just winging it” has never been the vibe, yet here it is again… hanging around like low-rise jeans we never asked to resurrect. (Someone please shake some sense into Gen Z!)
Before we hit the chaos of Black Friday and get pummeled by a thousand offers (including mine), this is your prep week.
Ask yourself:
• What truly supports the life and business I’m trying to build?
• What software or systems would genuinely lighten my load next year?
• What creative investment would move me forward instead of filling another digital junk drawer?
• Where am I pretending to be “ethical” when really I’m just avoiding action?
• What would intentional participation look like for me?
Because listen… before you can master your media presence, gain traction, and make magic out of your marketing, you have to operate in reality. Sometimes that means taking advantage of a software sale that will change your workflow. Sometimes it means allocating budget to work with a producer (✌️hi!) so you stop sabotaging your podcast dreams. Sometimes it means not shopping at all so you can afford strategy instead of stacking low-cost offers that cost you more in the long run.
And sometimes?
It means doing what I do:
- Be the fox in the henhouse.
- Use the system. Don’t let the system use you.
- Build access. Build community.
- Make so much fucking money that one day, if you feel like building a competitor to Amazon… you can do that on a random Tuesday. Nails still drying. 💅
Now… here’s how we’re doing it together:
🛍️ November 29
You’ll get my annual Small Business Saturday Production Oracle. A lineup of creators, makers, and weird little businesses that deserve real love — including mine. Some offers will be paid, many will be free, all will support the ecosystem we rely on.
🔥 December 1
The CEO Winter Rebellion kicks off. It’s free. It’s joyful. It’s rebellious. It brings your spark back through podcasts, YouTube binge sessions, and raffle prizes that make the darkest month of the year more fun.
And if generosity is your flavor, you can still apply to be a giveaway sponsor. That’s impact that means something.
So no — don’t blackout. The real protest is in how you create a more profitable, more sustainable marketing machine in your business.
Don’t disappear.
Don’t retreat into silence.
Rebellion looks like staying awake.
Gossip From the Creator Trenches...
🛠️ Your Library Is Your Best Biz Resource
Did you know libraries don’t just loan books anymore? Many now run a “library of things” — which is exactly what it sounds like. Need a podcast mic? Borrow it. Need a power drill? Borrow that too. Honestly, why buy gear you’ll use twice when you can share the load? It’s the same philosophy behind Sasquatch Media Grounds. Stop bankrupting yourself building a janky home studio when you can rent a pro one when you actually need it. You want to stick it to capitalism this holiday season? Don’t shop — share. Borrow. Rent.

📺 Creators, Start Your Engines
You may never host the next Hot Ones (though I’m still waiting for someone to tag me when they try), but don’t forget: the Creator Economy runs on small creators. Not celebs. Not mega-influencers. You. If you’ve got a business and a YouTube channel? Creator. A solid email list and something to sell? Creator. Once you grasp that power, you stop acting like an afterthought and start behaving like a media force. The tide is turning — and you’re sitting on way more leverage than you think.

🫧 Not Our First Bubble Rodeo
Everyone’s whispering about the “AI bubble” bursting soon. Spoiler: it probably will. Tech valuations are bloated to holy hell, and yes, a pop will ripple across the economy. But also? Not our first rodeo. Every bubble that bursts clears out the resource hoarders... and leaves room for sharper, hungrier creators to scoop up opportunities that were previously gate-kept. Fragility leaving the system is a good thing. The only question is whether you freeze… or feast. Start with getting informed. This week’s article lays out the nuance instead of the panic.

🫖 Studio Updates
It’s almost time to rebel again. Because a rebel mindset gets you more eyeballs on your podcasts & YouTube videos. And in my world... you win prizes for your rebel attitude!
While I’m setting up the scaffolding for the studio’s new membership launching in January, my goal is simple: help you (1) have fun and (2) get out of your over-thinking, over-analyzing head — not necessarily in that order.
The CEO Winter Rebellion kicks off December 1st and runs through New Year’s Eve, with prizes announced on New Year’s Day to ring in 2026 with a bang.
If you missed the Summer Rebellion, here’s the quick hit: all summer long, we read books for fun, found our voices again, and remembered our “why.” This time, we’re diving into podcasts and YouTube — the same places your next big idea (and audience growth) are hiding. You’ll earn raffle tickets just for listening and watching, even if you DNF ("did not finish"). Because not everything is meant to be finished… and the sooner you learn how to become a better listener, the sooner you become a better creator.
Why do I host thought leadership rebellions? Because your content sounds constipated. (Yes, even mine has lately. #solidarity) The cure isn’t another formula — it’s rediscovering your curiosity. Fun is strategy.
So grab your cocoa, hit play, and join the rebellion.

Business Tarot + Astrology
Your body is ahead of your brain this week — way ahead.
If your nervous system lights up like a hazard sign when you walk into a room? That’s data. Not a debate. Not a negotiation. Just… information you can trust without running it through five committees in your head.
And inside this week’s episode, we go deeper into why this matters now — especially as the same cards keep repeating themselves across completely different decks. (If you’re new to the private podcast, welcome to the repeater era… this quarter has been wild.)
The High Priestess is back. Again.
The Queen of Swords is back. Again.
And they’re not subtle: this is intuitive leadership season. Real leadership. Embodied leadership. The kind you have to practice now so you’re ready when 2026 actually opens its doors.
