🔥 Why Your Humanity Just Got More Valuable
Hey Reader,
There’s a little clip floating around of Simon Sinek on the Finding Mastery podcast talking about how imperfect, handmade human work is rising in value right now, and even though Simon can wander in circles long enough to make me check my step counter 😮💨… this point lands.
And I'm using it this week to kick us off because if one more person sends me messages about this talk I'm going to start charging a fee in my DMs for too much of the same. This is precisely the problem you're going to solve by learning to find your own voice instead of repeating someone else's. More on that later.
Machines are getting faster and cheaper, and humans are becoming the premium feature again. As he describes, your flawless Pottery Barn mug is cute, sure, but the slightly crooked Japanese ceramic with uneven glaze and a wobble to the rim is the one you love… because it carries a heartbeat. It carries effort. It carries story.
And this is the part we forget when we’re trying to build a business in a world obsessed with precision and polish: your value is rising every time you allow your humanity to show.
After the Black Friday maelstrom, I want to keep things light this week. But I also want to name something that matters, especially if you’ve been with me through Q4. Last Saturday’s Small Business Saturday newsletter wasn’t a sales parade… it was a love letter to people. My people. The small business owners I’ve been lifting all season and who lift me back up. The folks who show up even when the world feels heavy.
Because at the end of the day, business that lasts is built on connection… not cleverness.
This is where Simon’s point hits home and something I scream through my tiny little megaphone on my itty bitty corner of the internets:
You don’t become magnetic because you present a perfect brand. You become magnetic because you show up with texture… and opinions… and presence… and the willingness to be a real human in a sea of algorithmic clones.
If you’ve ever run an interview-style podcast, you already know this. Some conversations feel like pulling teeth with kitchen tongs. Others feel like sitting in front of a fireplace with someone you’ve known forever, even if you just met. You drop your mask, they drop theirs, and suddenly the mic disappears because the energy is so alive.
So here’s the spicy part: it’s worth asking how often you are the person who creates that kind of ease.
Most people want more money, more visibility, more opportunities. Great. Valid. Go get it. But the reason those opportunities aren’t flowing isn’t because you need another strategy or a prettier Canva template… it’s because you haven’t given anyone anything to connect with yet.
Real relationships require real participation in the world… which means you need stories, opinions, references, obsessions, fascinations, and experiments to bring into your conversations. You cannot be interesting if you never let yourself live.
And this is why the CEO Winter Rebellion exists.
Not as a productivity sprint… but as a humanity reset.
For one whole month, you’re rewarded for exploring again. You listen to podcasts you might never pick on your own. You wander through YouTube creators who aren’t in your niche. You practice the sacred art of DNF’ing (did not finish!) anything that doesn’t spark something inside you. You follow your curiosity like it’s a trail of breadcrumbs.
Because when your curiosity wakes up, your conversational energy becomes irresistible. You’re sharper, funnier, warmer, and more aligned. You walk into 2026 with stories to tell and ideas that didn’t come from a template or a coach’s rigid formula… and probably with a shiny prize in hand, which doesn’t hurt either.
This challenge isn’t about “finishing.” It’s about becoming someone people want to talk to again.
Machines can automate output… but they cannot make you compelling. They cannot make you magnetic. They cannot make you unforgettable.
Only you can do that by showing up with your imperfect, textured, deeply human self. And that, my lovely weirdos, is what moves your business forward every single time.
Gossip From the Creator Trenches...
🛒 Costco Is My Love Language
I wish more people would shift from being anti-everything to being pro-something, especially in how we spend money. Reducing your energy to boycott mode drains you fast. Choosing where you intentionally place your dollars is powerful. Capitalism is not going *poof* in our lifetime, so the game becomes discernment… and my beloved Costco stays at the top of that list. Let’s spend where our systems thrive, not where our outrage spirals.

🎬 Netflix Bought Warner Bros and Everyone Lost Their Minds
If you watch media like I watch media, this headline was everywhere. People are furious that Netflix scooped up Warner Bros., but honestly… it’s a hell of a lot better than the Saudis or Paramount’s new MAGA money. Media consolidation is happening whether we hold hands and cry about it or not. The real story? People are terrible with change, even when the writing has been on the wall for years. The entertainment landscape has shifted forever. Netflix made this move after clearing the anti-trust landmines… so the bigger question is whether old-school Hollywood will adapt and join the creator economy, or cling to a sinking ship.

🎙️ Sorry Chad, Podcasts Aren’t Dead
In news that shocks absolutely no one, a new study confirms men still dominate podcasting. But let’s be honest: this medium has historically been a clubhouse for business bros… and we’re in the middle of calling that out across every entrepreneurial space. What I’m actually watching is the trend underneath: all those bros saying podcasts and YouTube are “dead” while they quietly quit because the algorithm stopped handing them free wins. The truth: The field is finally leveling. Which means women, queer creators, and non-bro entrepreneurs… please, for the love of all that is holy, hit publish more often.

Business Tarot + Astrology
This week’s reading is all about calling your spirit back from the chaos. If you’ve been fighting battles that don’t matter or performing in survival mode, the energy now is pure, grounded surrender — the kind where you finally admit, Yeah… that doesn’t need to be my problem anymore.
The Devil shows up as pattern recognition, not punishment — and the clarity is honestly gorgeous. Then the week crescendos with Four of Swords reversed: waking up from burnout, rebooting your agency, and finally feeling your brain and intuition come back online. And your clients? They’re going through the same damn thing.
If you want the full breakdown — and the intuitive business strategy that goes with it — it’s all waiting inside the private feed.
